Employment FAQs

What if I am experiencing flu-like symptoms?
Stay home from work and notify your supervisor. Supervisors should, in turn, notify Matt Hawks, AVP of HR & Risk Management, of employees who are unable to be at work due to flu-like symptoms.  

HR will reach out to any faculty and staff who are not cleared to report to campus via #CampusClear and will provide guidance on next steps. 

Has the College suspended travel for employees?
Domestic or international travel sponsored or subsidized by the College has been cancelled until further notice.

Working Remotely

Do I need permission to work remotely? 
If you believe you need an accommodation in order to safely perform your job responsibilities, please complete the COVID-19 Reasonable Accommodation Request Form and submit it to You may be asked to have your health care provider complete a Medical Provider Request Form. The College will consider your request for accommodation in relation to the requirements of your position and the operational needs of the College, and may also consider and implement alternative reasonable forms of accommodation that will effectively address your limitations. 

What are some technology resources that Rollins provides to remote employees? 
Fuze: Make sure that remote employees have downloaded the Fuze Client: The Fuze telephone application allows you to make calls and text “from” your Rollins telephone number. The application is available for computers and mobile devices. 

Webex Teleconferencing Tool: Rollins has a site license for Webex, a video conferencing tool, which can be used for synchronous meetings. Webex allows you to join a meeting using real-time audio and video, share files or PPT presentations, or share your screen for demonstrations. Faculty, staff, and students may access Webex by phone, laptop, or mobile device and may opt out of sharing video and/or audio. 

Office365: Make sure that Office365 is installed on employees’ computers. Office365 combines the familiar Microsoft Office desktop suite with cloud-based versions of Microsoft’s communications and collaboration services to help users be productive from virtually anywhere through the Internet.

Student Employment

Who can I contact for questions/concerns on student employees or internships? 
The Center for Career & Life Planning (student employment and academic internships) will be contacting supervisors and employers with more details. Student Employment will be contacting supervisors with next steps as it pertains to on-campus or remote work possibilities. The Academic Internships team will be sending messaging to employer supervisors and students in internships. The College has contingency plans regarding academic credit in case students cannot complete required hours. 

Are work-study positions still going to be available? If needed, are some work-study positions going to be available remotely?  
Rollins is currently recruiting student employees in Handshake for the academic year. The Center for Career & Life Planning is working with multiple key partners to determine the logistics around remote student employment. In particular, remote student employment for students residing outside of Florida (or the US), will have tax implications that require careful consideration. At this time, all students are encouraged to continue applying to jobs that they are interested in and eligible for. More information will be forthcoming.
