Employment FAQs

Is the COVID-19 vaccine being mandated for all faculty and staff?
The growing concern about widespread COVID cases and hospitalizations has led the College to require full vaccination for any Rollins employee working in the Wellness Center, for both their protection and the protection of colleagues and patients. At this time, we are not requiring non-Wellness Center employees to be vaccinated.

What should I do if I am experiencing flu-like symptoms?
If you are sick, you should stay home from work and notify your supervisor. PTO should be applied to time not worked per the PTO policy. Please consider consulting with a health care provider and/or scheduling a COVID-19 test. Testing is available at the Wellness Center for staff and faculty that have been exposed to COVID-19 or who are experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19. To schedule an appointment, please call 407-628-6340

What if I test positive for COVID-19?
If you have tested positive for COVID-19 and are experiencing symptoms, you may not return to work on campus until:

  • At least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared, and
  • At least 24 hours with no fever without fever-reducing medication, and
  • Symptoms have improved
    • You may be eligible for salary continuation after 5 days of PTO.

If you have tested positive for COVID-19 but have not experienced symptoms, you may not return to work on campus until:

  • 10 days have passed since your test.
    • You may be eligible for salary continuation after 5 days of PTO.

When do I need to return to regular on-campus work activities?
The College has asked that all staff and faculty resume their regular work activities on campus by August 16, 2021, depending on role requirements and instructions from department heads. We will resume our regular PTO protocols as they pertain to absences related to COVID-19 symptoms, quarantine, and isolation. This return to normal practice is informed by the widespread availability of the COVID-19 vaccine and the large numbers of faculty and staff who will have been fully vaccinated by the start of the academic year.

Any variations to pre-pandemic work arrangements and schedules should be approved by department heads and divisional vice presidents in alignment with our established Flexible Scheduling Guidelines for Staff.

If I receive a red #CampusClear screen but feel well enough to work, can I work remotely instead of taking PTO?
Check with your supervisor for approval to work remotely.

What if I have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19?
If you have been in close contact (within 6 feet of someone for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and you have not been fully vaccinated, you may not return to work on campus until:

  • 10 days have passed since you were last exposed (if you have not been fully vaccinated against COVID-19); and
  • You remain symptom-free
    • PTO should be applied to time not worked per the PTO policy.

If you have been in close contact (within 6 feet of someone for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and you have been fully vaccinated:

  • You do not need to quarantine
  • Wear a mask around others and monitor for symptoms for 14 days
  • If symptoms develop it is recommended to get tested
  • It is recommended to get tested 5 days after exposure if you are not experiencing any symptoms
If you have tested positive or have been in close contact with a positive individual, you may also be contacted by a member of Human Resources to provide further guidance which may include suggesting that you consult with a health care provider and/or scheduling a COVID-19 test.
