The fifth dimension is all around us, so why do we not
see it?
Michio Kaku and Brian Greene use two different metaphors to relate the
concept of electromagnetism being an actual additional dimension to the
three dimensions of space and one dimension of time that Einstein called
spacetime. We all live in spacetime, but prefer to envision it as space
and time.
Carp or coy pond
and
The tightrope walker and the ant
Both are ways to envision, what only a mathematical formula
now reveals to true about the world. Three dimensions are insufficient
to examone and explain how the cosmos came into being, functions to sustain
itself, and persists into the future.
